pumpkin rasavangi







Ingredients

  • Pumpkin    1/2kg
  • Turmeric powder  1/2tsp
  • Salt
  • Asafoetida  1/2tsp
  • Lemonjuice  2tbs
  • Jaggery(optional)
  • Turdhal        1/2 cup

To roast and grind

  • Red chillies    6
  • Coriander seeds  2tsp
  • Channa dhal        2tbs
  • Cocnut scrapings 2tbs

Seasoning

  • Mustard seeds
  • Channa dhal
  • Red chillies


Method


  1. Pressure cook the turdhal.cut the pumpkin into small blocks.
  2. Boil the pumkin with salt and turmeric powder.
  3. Roast and grind the ingredients into a coarse paste.
  4. Once the pumpkin is boiled add the paste and the cooked tur dhal.
  5. Add asafoetida,lemon juice and garnish with curry leaves.
  6. Season with mustard seeds,channa dal and red chillies.
  7. It is a variation of kozhambu and instead of tamrind i have used lemon juice.
  8. Add jaggery at the end if you like the sweet taste.

Iam a regular viewer of ur blog. i luuuvvv ur pics....n i have tried some of your recipes also..Iam from kerala...in this pumpkin rasavangi u have written lemon juice can i use tamarind instead?
