Potato Bonda or urulaikizhangu bonda is a popular fried snack in Tamilnadu.I prefer this bonda than the ulundu bonda simply because it has potato stuffing inside and it is more tastier than the other one.Howevery my mom used to like only the mysore bonda or the ulundu bonda for which i will post the recipe soon.I have had this bonda in so many weddings as evening snack but when made it at home it is so tasty!!!!!!If you have boiled potatoes ready you can make it in a jiffy!!!

Bread and Cheese Pakoda/Fritters
I have tried bread pakoda, paneer pakoda etc but some how i felt it was very bland on the inside.Recently my friend Deepa gave this Bread and cheese pakoda recipe to me.We made it two or three times in parties in our house and it is a big hit!!!!yes it is a really tasty one.The best part is when you are making for parties or large numbers you can prepare the bread and keep it ready in the refrigerator and fry it hot hot when guests come and that is what i did.The cheese in the bajji really melts!!!!!

Mullu Murukku/Mullu Thenkuzhal
During festival time my house used to be so busy the maid used to go to the flour mill everyday to grind some murukku mavu for my mom.Now a days there are lots of things conveniently available in the stores.I made this easy Mullu Murukku version. It is one of my favourite murukkus because it is a little spicy than the normal thenkuzhal. It is a easy murukku made during diwali time and of course it is a perfect snack at tea time.

Kerala style Pazham Pori/Banana fritters
We are tasting a lot of Kerala Dishes these days because my friend is a Keralite and she is a superb cook.We have been trying a lot of dihses but few of them i would like to try out and blog it.One of them is this Banana Fritters or popular "Pazham Pori".It is a famous tea time snack in kerela apparently.
She made this and bought it when we were all going for a movie together in the same car.we were all so hungry and the fritters got over in few seconds. It reminds me of the appam we make with wheat flour, jaggery and banana but this one has its uniquness and taste.

Kara Boondhi Recipe|diwali snacks
I just finished packing my dolls and putting them in their respective places and of course the godrej(steel) steps that had to dismantled. I am here with some diwali recipes. Kara Boondhi is a simple savoury (tea time snack) and easy to make.It is really
thrilling to see the perfect little rounds coming out fried. Little care here and there, and I think you will get decent boondhis. I always refer to Meenkashi ammals cook book for traditional recipes and of course did the same for this recipe too.

Thattai/Gokulashtami snacks/Crispy fried Snacks
Thattai is a flat crspy fried snack made during Gokulashtami festival.I remember my mom used to prepare the rice flour at home few days before the gokulashtami by soaking the rice then drying it under the fan in a large white veshti and then powdering it in the flour mill to make the seedai, murukku and thattais. That is the traditional way of making rice flour.I have used the store bought one and it came out pretty good.I am sure the traditional way has its own taste. You can check out this recipe for home made rice flourUppu seedai

Oma Podi/Om Podi/Sev
Oma Podi is the simplest thenkuzhal variety. My mother and my aunts used to make oma podi and rawa ladoo the first thing for diwali. The omam or the ajwain makes it special.the omam gives a special falovour and taste to the thenkuzhal.Do not add too much of omam as it might taste bitter.Mix the flour in batches otherwise the Omapodi will turn very dark. You can use this omapodi while making mixture too!!!

Aamai Vadai/Paruppu Vadai
Aamai means Tortoise in Tamil Language this vadai resembles the shell of a Tortoise on the outside that is why it is called "Aamai Vadai".Though it is called Aamai vadai it is the paruppu vadai that is made in most of the festive occassions.Starting from weddings, upanayanams and festivals like diwali, pongal to small festivals paruppu vadai becomes part of the menu.Today being Avani Avittam it is a must in my house. It is made traditionally so there is no onion, garlic or fennel seeds like in "Masal Vadai"which is quiet similar to this Paruppu vadai.

Beetroot Masal Vadai/Chettinad cusine
All of us love Beetroot in our house, but we've never heard of "Beet root vadai" ever before. I saw the recipe on one of the TV cookery shows. It was interesting and sounded very tasty and healthy too. I thought let me record it on the blog before I forget .Then I looked for the same recipe in the internet and it says it is a Chettinad specialty. It sounds interesting, so let us see the output!
The sweetness in the beetroot blends with the dal and makes it really tasty.I don't need to mention the health benefits of beetroot!!!It tastes great on its own and does not need any accompaniment. However you can enjoy it with any chutney of your choice!!!

Ribbon Pakoda
Ribbon/Nada/Tape Pakoda as it is called in different names because of its lengthy ribbon-like shape. It is a spicy type of Thenkuzhal, made during diwali in most of the South Indian homes. It is very easy to make that it can be made anytime of the year.It tastes great with a cup of coffee that you will not be able to resist especially on a rainy day.
I always look for Meenakshi amma's cook book for my traditional recipes.I just followed her recipe in "Samaithu Par". Since I made it during a regular but rainy day, I just added crushed garlic for the flavour which is purely optional.

"Kunukku" or spicy Lentil Fritters is another traditional recipe. It is a perfect fried snack for a rainy day.You either make the dough specially for this or you can even make this with left over "Adai"mavu.Either way it tastes great .
You can deep fry it according to the original recipe or pour it in the kuzhipaniyaram tawa in which you avoid the oil part of it.I have deep fried it now according to the original recipe!!!!!
