Kollu Soup/Horse gram Soup/Weight Loss Recipe

Horse Gram is a superfood.Few health benefits of horse gram is it is very rich in iron, calcium and protein  In fact it has the highest calcium content among pulses and is one of the richest vegetarian sources of protein. It is low in fat and high in carbohydrate content. It is very helpful in treating obesity and diabetis because of its low lipid and sodium content.
Now  I have been trying out a lot of weight loss recipes. While i was talking to my friends about these recipes my friend (Radha) mentioned to me about this horse gram and she makes soup out of this.I tried this soup first in her house and tried out in my house. It is quiet simple to make except that the dal has to be soaked for 8-10 hours and pressure cooked well.Other than the soaking and pressure cooking  it is easy to prepare. You can alter the ingredients according to your taste and preference. There is no strict rule of ingredients or quantity in this recipe.
I made it this way......

Drumstick Soup/Murungakkai Soup

I have been looking for iron rich recipes these days and in the process found this soup.I have tasted a light version of this soup in some restaurants but never tried it.I decided to make this today and going through a lot of recipes on various blogs.Ultimately i made my own version of it.While picking drumsticks for a soup let them be little thick and pulpy.

Palak Soup/Spinach Soup

There cannot be a healthier soup than this palak soup. My daughters are a big fan of soups, especially 'Tomato'. I thought let me make this creamy, soothing and healthy soup (let them get a taste of other soups too). Since i have tried so many Subzis with Palak, this soup is a new try.I tried this soup in a restaurant in Bombay few years back.

Tomato Soup

Tomato Soup is the most comforting soup throughout the world and of course our home is not an exception to that fact.It is the most preferred soup when we are out for dinner.I love Tomatoes in any form so soup is always welcome especially in winter.

When we make it at home it is simple and very healthy too!You can have it with some croutons and with some dinner rolls and it makes a simple meal by itself.
