Mixed Vegetable Soup

                                                             I have been making this soup quiet often now for two reasons one is all of us like to have a soup and second is i am trying all ways possible to improve my Hemoglobin so trying to include all kinds of food that will improve my hemoglobin.
My husbands Aunt(athai) advised me to have this soup regularly and she gave me this recipe too.I have included the main vegetables you can add some vegetables of your choice and taste.It does not have to always healthy right!!!

Breadsticks

                                                    This is most simple bread recipe I have tried so far.It is close to the bread sticks you get in pizza places like Pizza Hut, Domino's or Pizza Corner.I would say it very close to Pizza Corner(bread sticks) one.I am sure it will surely satisfy your bread craving!!!
Nowadays whenever the kids order for pizzas I mostly stick to bread sticks alone and satisfy my craving and avoid the cheesy !!part in the pizza slices.I thought let me make the bread  more healthy by trying it at home.Without any doubt the kids loved it and it turned out good too!!
You can adjust the seasoning  according to your preference.You can use the seasoning mix when you get along with your pizza or use the store bought one or use every spice powder separately !!You can add some  Parmesan powder on top or have it with a cheesy dip especially when it is hot!!!!

Kozhukattai(Sweet and Salt)

                                                                                This pillayar chathurthi i decided to make kozhukattai with rice flour.Sometimes i do make with soaked and ground rice for which i have posted a recipe already here Vella Kozhukattai.This version is little simple with the store bought flour.You get special  flour kozhukattai also or you can use idiappam flour which also yields soft kozhukattais.

Bread and Cheese Pakoda/Fritters

                                                                I have tried bread pakoda,paneer pakoda etc but some how i felt it was very bland on the inside.Recently my friend Deepa gave this Bread and cheese pakoda recipe to me.We made it  two or three times in parties in our house and it is a big hit!!!!yes it is a really tasty one.The best part is when you are making for parties or large numbers you can prepare the bread and keep it ready in the refrigerator and fry it hot hot when guests come and that is what i did.The cheese in the bajji really melts!!!!!

Maida Dosa

                                                      This is different variety of dosa with maida or all purpose flour.Even though it is not very healthy it is a easy one with easily available ingredients at home,especially when you do not have the idli or dosa dough(batter).It is an instant dosa which you can prepare immediately.This dosa is not crispy in fact it is soft!!You can add some chopped onions to enhance the taste.Beginers please use a non stick pan for best results.

Chikoo Milkshake

                                                                    Chikoo Milkshake is my husbands most favorite.He always says it is very popular in this juice shop in bombay called 'Satguru's' and he used to enjoy having it.He used to take us to the same shop when we visit Bombay.It is a very easy recipe and most of us would have had it a lot of times!!!!
We are trying out different types of milkshakes and juices to beat the heat this summer and one such attempt is the chikoo milkshake.it is really yumm!!!

Masala Chaas

                                                                   Spicy Buttermilk is made in different ways in different parts of India.In south India especially in Tamilnadu we churn it with some chillies,curry leaves,coriander leaves,asafoetida and salt.It is made slightly different way in North India with black salt,cumin powder etc.I have tasted this in Rajdhani restaurant along with the meal.Being summer i thought let me try it at home today.It is a real welcome drink for the summer!!!!!!!!!

Paasi Paruppu Masiyal

                                                                      This is the first time I am trying this Paasi Paruppu(yellow dal) Masiyal. This is my Iyengar friend's recipe( i am not too sure if it is a Iyengar recipe).Whether it is Iyengar recipe or not it came out very well and was tasting heavenly.
I really ran out of ideas and vegetables for the Kozhambu or main gravy today!! only then my friends recipe came to my mind and i decided to make it.It was simple and didn't need any vegetable other than tomatoes.
It is very similar to the north Indian  yellow dal. It tastes heavenly with hot rice and topped with a spoon of desi ghee.It is very simple to make that is why i have not posted step-wise pictures.

Kadai Paneer

                                                                  Kadai Paneer is an aromatic, easy subzi with paneer. Almost everyone is fond of Paneer dishes, so here is another easy one. I went to Shree Mithai yesterday with my friend and had some yummy Chat and Chole Bature. I also picked up some sweets for my children and recalled that the Paneer you get there is really fresh and soft, so me and my friend picked up few packets each and left. This paneer is soft that you can use it directly in to the Subzi, but in case your Paneer is slightly hard, soak it in hot water before you add it in the Subzi.

Sakkarai Pongal/Sweet Pongal

                                                      Pongal is an important festival in Tamilnadu.It is one of my favourite festivals.when we were growing up my uncles,aunts,cousins gather in my house and we all used to celebrate together for three,four days.Food was an important part in any festival especially Pongal.The celebration goes on for three days in my house,the second day is sankranti or pongal day on which we make sakkarai pongal or the sweet pongal.

My mother used to make Sakkarai Pongal in a traditional patram called 'Vengala Panai'decorated with Manjal kothu.Along with Sakkarai pongal she used to make Special kozhambu with all vegetables and five different vegetables(curry).Sweet Pumpkin curry used to be a special one on pongal or sankranti day.There are two three ways of making this sweet pongal.I have made it after making a thick syrup of jaggery called "pagu"which gives more shelf life to the pongal.
