Medhu Vadai/Ulundu Vadai






You Will Need

  • 250gms of Urad dhal
  • Few Green chillies
  • Few Curry Leaves
  • 1/4tsp of Asafoetida
  • Salt to Taste
  • Oil to deep Fry

How to
1.Wash and Soak the Urad dhal for half an hour.
2.Remove excess water from the dhal and grind in to a fluffy paste.do not add water while grinding just sprinkle so that grinder does not jam.Add the green chillies and curry leaves while grinding and the asafoetida after grinding.
3.Heat Oil in a deep pan.Keep a bowl of water along with the dough.wet your hands first take a portion of the dough,flatten it and make a hole in the centre and drop it in hot oil.make 3 or 4 at a time and fry at the same time.
4.Fry on both sides until golden brown.Keep repeating until you finish the dough.

5.Serve hot with Coconut chutney.

You mentioned 1/4tsp of Asafoetida. But you did not mention where and when to mix it with. Do we mix it with the paste?
