Potato and Onion curry

Potato is the most staple vegetable all over  the world and South India is not an exception.Potato curry is a special dish and favourite of most of the people especially children.Potato curry is part of any vegetarian festive menu in Tamilnadu.
In my family this potato and onion curry is made on  all Sundays along with Onion Sambar and Avial. It used to be our Sunday Feast.I love this menu.I make this potato and onion curry atleast once a week mostly with sambar if not with Avial.Ths curry is so yummy that it can be wrapped in a chapathi for lunchbox or travel. It can be used as a filling for sandwich for a spicy potato grilled sandwich.

Masala khichidi

I had a lot of Gujarati friends when i was studying  in school I used share their lunch boxes and developed a taste for gujrathi food.I learnt a few Gujrathi Recipes from them. There is a little sweetness in all the Gujrathi dishes and i love that sweetness in the food.
Vaghareli Khichdi is a variation of Gujarati Khichdi. This Khichdi is a combination of rice, dal, vegetables and masalas. It is a perfect one pot meal.I make it when i am tired and want to wrap up something really fast.It is very nutritious because it has rice, dal and vegetables and ghee. There is no sweetness in this khichdi but it goes well with gujrathi kadhi which is sweet.

Broken Wheat Idli/Dalia Idli

Broken wheat or Dalia is a healthier alternative to white rice. I remember my grandfather eating it instead of white rice because he was diabetic. It is an alternative to chapathis, coming in handy for South Indians like me ! When we are bored of Chapathis and Subzis this is a good option to make steamed Idlis with Sambar and Chutneys.
