Chilli Idli/Podi Idli

                                                         Chilli Idli or Podi Idli  is one of my favourite appertizers, or even a starter. Nowadays I prefer not to eat fried starters and Chilli Idli or Podi Idli is a perfect example.I went to a party recently and podi idli was the first one to get over.




You will Need
  • Two plates of Mini Idlies
  • One Medium sized Onion.
  • Two Tbs of Idli Chilli Powder
  • One tbs of Gingelly Oil
  • One tsp Mustard seeds
  • A pinch of Asafoetida
  • Few Curry Leaves

How to

  • Steam the Mini idlies in mini idli plates and allow them to cool.Heat oil in a pan and crackle mustard seeds,asafoetida and curry leaves.


  • Add chopped onions and fry.add turmeric powder and salt


  • Fry till the onions are slightly brown.


  • Add the idli chilli powder and fry for a few seconds.


  • Throw the mini idlies and mix well so that the idlies is coated well with the chilly powder.



Enjoy it as a starter or appetizer!!!!
