Chili Bajji/Stuffed Mirchi Bajji

                                                        Mirchi or Chilli Bajji is a popular  Indian Fried snack. It is an ideal snack on a rainy day with a cup of Masala Chai(Tea).I have tried this Bajji with a stuffing of potato and a little bit of Paneer. You can create stuffing as per your taste and liking. It came out good and tasted great.

You will Need

  • 12 Bajji Chillies
  • One cup Gram Flour
  • 1/4 cup Rice flour
  • One tsp Chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • A pinch of Asafoetida
  • A pinch of Soda
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil to deep fry

For the filling

  • 3 Boiled Potatoes
  • One Green chilli chopped
  • One tsp Choppped Coriander Leaves
  • 1/4 tps Chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp Chat masala powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 Tbs of Shredded Paneer

How to
1.Gather gram flour,rice flour,chillipowder,salt,turmeric powder,asafoetida  and soda in a wide bowl.
 2.Add water to the above and make it in to a thick paste.(consistency similar to dosa dough)and keep it aside
 3.Mash the boiled potatoes add chilli powder,salt,green chilli,coriander leaves,chat masala powder and mix well.(if you want you can add some lemon juice)
 4.Add shredded paneer and mix well and keep aside.

5.Slit the green chillies and take out the seeds and stem.
 6.Repeat the same for all the chillies. At this stage, Heat oil in a pan
 7.Stuff the Chillies with the potato and dip it in the gram flour so that it gets coated well.
8.Drop it in hot oil and fry till golden brown on all sides, turning it in intervals.
 9.Take it out when it is hot.
Enjoy the bajji when it is hot with green chutney and tomato sauce with a hot cup of tea or coffee on a winter or rainy day!!!!!!Enjoy!!!!!!!!

  • You can make these bajjis without the stuffing as well and tastes good too!!!
  • You can add some chopped onion to the filling as well.
  • Adjust the spice level according to your preference in the stuffing as well as the outer dough.
