Mullu Murukku/Mullu Thenkuzhal

During festival time my house used to be so busy the maid used to go to the flour mill everyday to grind some murukku mavu for my mom.Now a days there are lots of things conveniently available in the stores.I made this easy Mullu Murukku version. It is one of my favourite murukkus because it is a little spicy than the normal thenkuzhal. It is a easy murukku made during diwali time and of course it is a perfect snack at tea time.

You will Need
  • One cup Rice flour
  • 1/3 cup Gram flour
  • One tsp Red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp Asafoetida
  • 2 tbs Butter
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil to deep fry

How to
1.Gather rice flour, gram flour, red chilli powder, asafoetida and butter in a wide bowl mix well.Add water and makeit in to a soft dough.
2.Let the dough be like chapathi dough and not too tight.
3.fill it up in the  murukku maker with the three star plate.
4.Heat oil in apan and when it is hot lower the flame and press the urukku maker in circular motion.
5.After few seconds flip the murukku the other side gently and cook till the ssshhh sound stops.
6.cook the murukku till golden brown and take it out and drain in a tissue paper.
7.Cool it and store in a air tight container.
Enjoy the murukku at tea time.

Notes

  • Adjust the spice level according to your taste.
  • Make the dough like chapathi dough not too tight else you will find it difficult to press.
  • You can squeeze the dough on a ladle and then drop it to get better shape and safety.
  • Fry the murukkus in medium flame only.
  • Fry till the ssshhh sound stops.Turn the murukku gently
