Ingredients
Chow chow | 1 |
Curds | 3tbs |
Salt | 11/2tsp |
Cumin seeds | 1tsp |
Coriander seeds | 1tsp |
Channa Dal | 1tsp |
Coconut scraped | 3tsp |
Green chillies | 1-2 |
Rice | 1tsp |
Oil | 1tsp |
Mustard seeds | 1tsp |
Urad Dal | 1tsp |
Red chili | 1 |
Method
1.Cut chow chow into small cubes and boil it in water with salt.
2.Grind the ingredients given in the table(cumin,coriander,Channa Dal,coconut and rice) and add curds to it
3.Add the ground paste and curds to the boiled vegetable,heat it for a second and switch
off the stove because it should not boil.
4.Season with mustard seeds,urad Dal and red chillies.
Notes
- This kootu can be made with other vegetables like white pumpkin,cabbage,cauliflower and carrot.
- It is an accompaniment with sambhar,vethakozhambu mostly milagu kozhambu.
- Instead of rice you can soak few badam or cashew nuts and grind to give a richer taste.
