Black Channa(Kala Channa)



INGREDIENTS

Black (channa)dal
1cup
Salt
To taste
Turmeric powder
1/4tsp
Oil
2tbs
Tomatoes
2
Onions
2
Cumin seeds
1tsp
Chilli powder
1/2tsp
Cumin powder
1/2tsp
Coriander powder
1/2tsp
Garam masala powder
½-1tsp
Ginger

Garlic
2pods
Gram flour
1tbs
Beaten curd
1/4cup
Coriander leaves
1tbs

METHOD



1.Soak the dal overnight.Pressure cook for 25minutes with salt and Turmeric powder.
2.Chop onions,tomatoes.Heat oil in a pan add cumin and fry onions till transculent and add tomatoes.
3.Add turmeric,coriander,cumin,chilli powders,ginger garlic paste and salt.
4.When oil separates add the boiled dal and some water and boil for few minutes.
5Add garam masala powder.Make a paste with gram flour and curds and add it finally.
6.Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with roti.

NOTES

  • This dal how much ever you cook does not get mushy so you add the gram flour paste for binding.
  • It is healthier than the kabuli channa.

is the same gravy which we make for channa masala?

It is slightly different renu you add gram flour aste and curds to this.
How muchever you cook the kala channa will not get mushy so you add gram flour for binding.
