Thayir Aval or curd Poha is a quick version of Thayir sadam.It is very easy to make and there is no cooking time required to make this.It comes in handy when you are in a hurry to make any breakfast.It is also a summer recipe!!!!!It is also made on Krishna Jayanthi as prasadam.
This is one of my husbands favourite breakfast dish and he has been asking me to make this for quite some time now.My mother used to make it often for him.I fondly remember her while making this!!!!!!
You will Need
How to:
1.Wash and soak Rice flakes in warm milk for ten minutes.
2.Heat oil in a small pan, crackle mustard seeds, add urad dal, channa dal and let it brown. Switch off the stove and add green chillies and ginger.
3. Pour it over the soaked aval, add curd, salt, asafoetida, chopped coriander leaves, curry leaves and mix well.
Enjoy the summer recipe with some Khara Boondi or pickle or plain!!!!!

- One cup Aval or Rice flakes
- One and half cup curds
- Half cup warm Milk
- One tsp Oil
- One tsp Mustard seeds
- Half tsp Urad dal
- Half tsp Channa dal
- One Green chili
- Small piece of Ginger
- Salt to taste
- A pinch of Asafoetida

Notes
- You can just wash the aval and leave it for half an hour instead of soaking in milk or water.
- There are two types of Rice flakes - use the thicker variety for proper shape and texture.
- You can make it on fasting days and have it instead of usual Kanji.
