Masala Thepla/Masala Roti

                                                             Gujarati's prepare a whole lot of Rotis and Theplas with simple masalas and greens (like palak,methi etc).Masala Theplas or Masala Rotis are tasty rotis prepared by adding few spices to the normal rotis.It is a staple dish in Gujarati cuisine. It has a better shelf life and perfect for travel.You can even have it  at tea time.You can serve these rotis with curd or some sweet mango pickle called chudda (sweet mango pickle) which is also home made.


You will Need (to make 6 Theplas)
  • One cup Wheat flour
  • Half tsp Ajwain seeds 
  • One tsp Sesame seeds
  • A pinch of Turmeric powder
  • Half tsp Red Chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Water to Knead
  • Oil to Knead
How to
1.Gather all the ingredients in a wide bowl.
 2.Add water and knead in to a firm dough.apply oil on your palm towards the end and roll it.
 3.Divide the dough in to equal portions and make even sized balls.
 4.Roll it out in to a roti dusting with some wheat flour.
5.Put it on a hot tawa and flip it when it is half cooked
6.Allow it to cook fully till it gets brown spots, flip it again and cook fully.Spread some ghee or oil.
7.Allow them to cool and stack them and store.
Enjoy it as a roti or as a teatime snack!!!!

Notes

  • You can add some dried fenugreek leaves and some garam masala powder too.
  • You can add some curd while kneading the dough instead of water.
  • It has a shelf life of two days so you can carry it when you travel.
