Chidambaram Gothsu/Sutta kathirikkai Gothsu

This is also another traditional recipe from Chidambaram. There are quiet a few versions to it.but my mother used to make it in this way so i just follow it.Even though my kids are not a big fan of brinjal they eat it and my hubby loves it with "arisi upma".

You will Need

  • One gooseberry sized Tamarind
  • A pinch of Turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Few Curry leaves
  • Few Coriander leaves

  • One tsp of Mustard seeds

How To
1.Soak the tamarind in hot water and extract the pulp three times and keep aside.
2.Apply oil on top of brinjal and roast it on the stove on all sides till it becomes black.
3.Cool and peel of the skin totally.
4.Mash it with your hands and let it become pulpy.
5.Heat oil in a pan crackle mustard seeds add green chillies, curry leaves, asafoeitda, turmeric powder  and the tamarind water.
6.when it boils for few minutes add salt and the mashed pulp and boil till it thickens(just takes 2 minutes)
