Oats Porridge (Sweet and Salt )/Healthy Breakfast Recipe

                                                             Oats porridge has become a universal breakfast cereal now.Right from people living in western countries to traditional people living in Indian villages, oats porridge is part of the breakfast diet.My uncles and aunts, everyone has oats porridge with buttermilk(savoury oats)since they are all diabetic.I like to eat oats porridge with milk,banana and few nuts.I think that is a very healthy breakfast with Banana in it and it is the best way to kick start your day and body!!!My kids prefer to have the savoury one with buttermilk and so does my husband.
                                                     Needless to say the enormous health benefits of oats.It is high in fiber and helps to keep your cholesterol under control. It helps in weight loss and it cooks in a jiffy!!!!!



You will Need(Sweet porridge)
  • 1/4 cup of Oats cereal
  • 3/4 cup Water
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • Few Slivered Almonds
  • Few Raisins
  • Sliced Banana(optional)

How to
  • In a sauce pan heat the water and add oats to it.Cook till it becomes thick stirring continously to avoid any lumps and getting burnt. switch off the stove.

  • Add warm milk slowly and mix well add some slivered almonds,raisins and banana.

Notes
  • You can Add skimmed Milk instead of whole milk.
  • You can add some chopped dates to the porridge.
  • You can add some more fruits of your choice like apple,strawberry etc.
  • You can add some Cinnamon or Nutmeg powder for extra flavour.Cinnamon is very good for health

You will Need(Salt Porridge)
  • 1/4 cup Of Oats cereal
  • 3/4 cup Water
  • 1/2 cup Thick Buttermilk
  • Salt to taste
  • A pinch of Asafoetida
How to
  • In a Sauce pan heat water and add oats and cook it till it becomes thick stirring continuously to avoid any lumps and getting burnt.Switch off the stove and allow it to cool completely.


  • Add thick buttermilk and mix well to get a porridge consistency.Add salt and sprinkle asafoetida.

Notes
  • If you prefer you can heat one tsp oil crackle mustard seeds,cumin seeds,finely chopped half a green chilli,few finely chopped ginger pieces and few tender curry leaves.
