Sambar powder is a very important powder, masala or podi stored in a Tamil house. It is a basic masala powder used to make our staple sambar, rasam and vathakuzhambu. There are powders seperate for rasam and vathakuzhambu with slight variations but still we can manage with the sambar powder quiet well.

Hello Uma
Thanks for the recipe! One question, is it cups of Tur dal/chana dal or tablespoons as mentioned. It feels like tablespoons is too less.
Vandana
Hi vandana the measurements are right both the dals are actually only for binding and the quantity is small so it is sufficient.try and let me know.
nice
