Paruppu(lentil in Tamil) usili(crumbled) is nothing but lentils thawed with a vegetable.It is very popular accompaniment in the Tamil cooking and it is part of any grand menu.Usually it is made with Beans,cluster beans,banana flower,cabbage and carrot but i had this with capsicum in a wedding and i loved it.So gave it a try and came out so good!!!!If you are a capsicum fan you will surely love it!

How to
1.Soak the Tur dhal,red chillies and few curry leaves for half an hour.
2.Remove the excess water and grind it into a coarse paste.add some salt but do not add water while grinding.
3.Take out the paste and place it on the idliplate or a steamer and steam it for 15 minutes.
4.Cool and again put it in the mixer and give it a whisk so that it crumbles evenly.
5.Heat oil in a pan crackle mustard seeds and saute chopped capsicum.(let it be crisp).
Add the crumbled dhal and saute for few minutes.Add some salt,asafoetida and curry leaves.

- Few Red Chillies
- Few Curry leaves
- Two Tbs of Oil
- One tsp of Mustard seeds
- A pinch of Asafoetida
- Salt to Taste
