Curd Millet/Barnyard Millet Curd Bath

                                                          Millets are small cereal grains which are becoming very popular now.Few Millet Varieties that i am familiar with are Kambu,Thinai,Samai,Kuthiraivali and Varagu.Because of its enormous health benefits i have started including those millets in my daily cooking slowly.First i wanted to understand how to cook them and what all dishes i can make and now getting more familiar with them.


You will Need

  • Half cup Kuthiraivali Millet
  • One cup Milk
  • Half cup Curds
  • One tsp Oil
  • One tsp Mustard seeds
  • A pinch of Asafoetida
  • One tbs Chopped Ginger
  • One tsp Chopped Chilli
  • One tbs Shredded Carrot
  • One Tbs Chopped Mango
  • One tbs Coriander Leaves
  • Few Curry Leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • One tbs ghee
  • Few Cashewnuts
  • Few Raisins

How to
1.Wash and cook the millet in pressure cooker with 1:3 water for three whistles.
 2.Once the pressure subsides mash the millet without any lumps and add milk slowly and allow it to cool a bit.
 3.Add the curds  and mix.
 4.Add chopped mango,ginger,green chili,carrots and coriander leaves,salt and asafoetida and mix.
 5.Heat a small pan crackle mustard seeds,curry leaves and pour over the curd millet.In the same pan add a tbs of ghee and fry some cashewnuts and raisins and pour over the curd millet.
Garnish with Pomogranates or grapes as you wish.Enjoy with any Mango Pickle.


Notes

  • It is a healthy version of Curd rice.Actually there was not much difference at all.
  • You can add ginger and green chilli while tempering or seperately also.
