Gothumai Dosai/Wheatflour Dosa

                                                        Gothumai dosai is a simple dosa variety with wheat flour and rice flour.South Indians who are bored with eating chapathis or phulkas daily will surely consider this option.It is simple to make witheasily available ingredients at home and health too.


You will Need(it will make 10 thin dosas)

  • One cup Wheat flour 
  • One cup Rice flour
  • One cup Buttermilk
  • One tsp Cumin Seeds
  • One to two Green chillies
  • One tsp finely chopped Ginger
  • Salt to taste
  • Few Curry Leaves
  • A pinch of Asafoetida
How to
  • In a wide bowl take wheat flour,rice flour,cumin seeds,asafoetida and salt.

  •  Add buttermilk and water and make dough in a thick buttermilk consistency.


  •  Add chopped green chillies,ginger and curry leaves and mix.


  •  Allow it to sit for two hours if you are using iron tawa if you are using non stick then no need to wait.Heat a non stickpan and take a full laddle of dough and start pouring from the sides.since it is watery it will take its own shape inside leaving lot of holes.


  •  Let it cook on medium flame and it will start rising from the sides by itself. 

  • When the sides have become brown and risies turn it around and cook on the other side for few seconds and remove it.it looks similar to rawa dosa.Enjoy it with any type of chutney or sambar.
  • You can sprinkle some oil or ghee while cooking.
  • You can add some chopped onions for extra taste.
  • If you are adding chopped onions avoid cumin seeds.
