Rawa Urundai/Rawa Ladoo

"Rawa Ladoo" is a simple sweet or laddu made with rawa(semolina or sooji),sugar and a little ghee.It does not require any frying or too much Ghee, so you can really indulge in this sweet. My mother used to make the best Rawa Ladoo according to me. She used very little ghee but managed to make really large ladoos. Her Ladoos were very famous in our extended family.Every diwali this is the first sweet she would make.

You will Need
  • One cup Rawa or Semolina
  • One cup Sugar
  • Two to three Cardamoms
  • 5 tbs of Ghee
  • Few Cashewnuts

How to

  • Heat a tbs of ghee and fry the broken cashew nuts till nice golden brown and keep aside.

  • In the same pan fry the rawa or sooji for 5-7 minutes or until nice aroma comes in medium flame.do not let it brown.
  • Cool completely and powder in the mixer into a fine powder along with few cardamoms.
  • Powder the sugar and mix with in a wide bowl.Heat ghee and pour it over the powdered rawa and sugar.

  •  Mix well until it becomes a crumble.Take a portion of the powder and roll into a small ball.

  •  Use the three fingers shown in the picture to form a firm ladoo

Arrange in a single layer in a flat box.Enjoy this simple sweet that can be made in a jiffy !

Notes

  • If you are not able to make the ladoos, warm little more ghee and add to the flour.
  • If you are making in large quantities grind the rawa in the flour mill to get a fine powder and make in small batches.
