Corn Cheese Balls

Corn cheese balls are corn and cheese dumplings that fried in oil. It is one of my favorite starters,(not only mine all of ours).
If you have visited Cream Center restaurant in Chennai you would know!!!It is very popular in that restaurant and i know most children, not just childen,  most people who visit that restaurant would order that first.Today i though let me make it as a evening snack for my kids and surprise them.

You will Need
  • Two boiled Potatoes
  • Half cup Shredded Cheese
  • One cup Sweet Corn
  • One tsp Italian Spice mix
  • Two tbs Corn flour
  • One tbs All purpose Flour
  • One finely chopped Green chilli
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil to fry.

How to

  • Combine all the ingredients except the oil.Make sure the potatoes are not too mushy.

  • Combine everything uniformly and bring it to a dough consistency.
  • Roll it in to small dumplings  as shown in the picture. For best results you can refrigerate these balls for an hour or more and fry them later.

  • Drop them gently in hot oil and fry them till golden brown in medium flame.

  •  Drain them in a tissue paper.

Enjoy when it is hot with tomato ketchup of chilli garlic sauce.

Notes

  • The cheese melts in hot oil and makes it very tasty. There is salt in the cheese so add  salt accordingly.
  • If the dough becomes too sticky add a little more corn flour. If it becomes too dry add a little milk to soften.
  • If you are making in large nos for a party make the balls and refrigerate and fry when required.
  • Sometimes depending on the consistency it might melt when put in hot oil,in that case make a paste out of corn flour or maida and dip the balls in them and then in bread crumbs for a covering and drop them in oil.
  • You can change the seasoning as you like coriander leaves, green chilli etc.
