Aval Pidi Kozhukattai


                                                                           Honestly I have not been exposed to this kozhukattai before!!!I just learnt it from other blogs.It seemed very simple and tasty.Yes it is really soft and yummy and really quick!!!!When you have sudden guests or when you need to make something really quick and healthy this is it..You can sure give it a try.......




You will Need

  • One cup Aval or Rice flakes 
  • One and half cups Water                                            
  • Two tbs Scraped Coconut
  • Two Green chillies 
  • One small piece of Ginger
  • Few Curry Leaves
  • One tbs Coconut Oil
  • One tsp Mustard seeds
  • One tsp Urad dhal
  • A pinch of Asafoetida
  • Salt to taste


How to
1.Coarsely powder the Aval in the mixer in the pulse mode.
 2.Mean while you can chop the ginger and green chilli in to small pieces.
 3.Heat a pan with oil crackle mustard seeds,add urad dhal and let it brown,add chopped green chilli,ginger,asafoetida and curry leaves.
 4.Add water and salt and allow it to boil.
 5.When it is boiling add scraped coconut.
 6.Add the powdered rice flakes and when all the water is absorbed switch off the stove.
 7.Allow it to cool down and when it is warm make it in to lenghty kozhukattais as shown in the picture.

 8.Steam it for five minutes.

Enjoy the yummy and soft kozhukattais with any type of chutney!!!

Notes

  • When you are making the kozhukattais, if it is dry, sprinkle some water and mould them.
  • Use thick variety aval or rice flakes.You can even try with Red colour Aval.
