Mango Thokku

                                                                 I have already posted one recipe for Mango thokku.This is another way of making it.I keep making this often in our house.It is an all time favourite and all of us love it. we eat it with bread,dosa and of course with curd rice.



You will Need

  • Two Raw Mangoes
  • Three tsp of Salt
  • One and half tsp of Chilli powder
  • A pinch of Turmeric powder
  • A generous pinch of Asafoetida
  • Two Tbs of Gingelly oil
  • One tsp of Mustard seeds
  • Two tsp of powdered Jaggery

To Dry Roast and Powder

  • One tsp of Fenugreek seeds

How to

  1. Wash and peel off the skin of the raw mangoes.Cut them into big pieces.
  2. Boil them with Turmeric powder or pressure cook for two whistles.
  3. Heat Oil in a thick pan crackle mustard seeds.
  4. Mash the boiled mango to make a thick pulp and pour over mustard seeds.
  5. Add salt,chilli powder,asafoetida,jaggery and boil till oil separates.
  6. Finally add fenugreek powder mix well and cool it.
  7. Store in a dry glass bottle and refrigerate to keep it for few weeks.
Suggestions
  • Add only quarter tsp of fenugreek powder otherwise it gets bitter.
  • Use of jaggery is optional.
  • While you are boiling just srinkle some water on the mangoes.
  • No need to immerse in water and boil.

saw your shallot pickle on foodgawker. Looks great! we make Indian pickles sometimes-most recently jalapeno-worth the effort. Dal should be a national ingredient. Nice!
