Breadsticks

This is most simple bread recipe I have tried so far.It is close to the bread sticks you get in pizza places like Pizza Hut, Domino's or Pizza Corner.I would say it very close to Pizza Corner(bread sticks) one.I am sure it will surely satisfy your bread craving!!!
Nowadays whenever the kids order for pizzas I mostly stick to bread sticks alone and satisfy my craving and avoid the cheesy !!part in the pizza slices.I thought let me make the bread  more healthy by trying it at home.Without any doubt the kids loved it and it turned out good too!!
You can adjust the seasoning  according to your preference. You can use the seasoning mix when you get along with your pizza or use the store bought one or use every spice powder separately !!You can add some  Parmesan powder on top or have it with a cheesy dip especially when it is hot!!!!

You will Need

  • Half a tsp dry yeast
  • One and half cups Flour
  • Half tsp of Sugar
  • Half tsp Garlic Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • One tbs of Italian seasoning powder
  • Four tsp Olive oil or Butter
How to
Dissolve the dry yeast in warm water or milk add a little sugar. Leave it closed for ten minutes until frothy.
Take the flour in a wide bowl make a well in the center and add the yeast liquid little by little and knead the dough.I have already posted many pictures on yeast you can check out on http://www.umakitchen.com/2012/10/savory-buns.html
  • Knead the dough well.Spread butter on the baking tray and spread the dough on the tray and cover it up with cling wrap and leave it in a warm place.

  •   Let it rise for an hour and half and apply butter or olive oil on top.Preheat the oven at 220° C.

  • Sprinkle the seasoning(the pizza seasoning consists of Basil, garlic, oregano salt and pepper powders) on top and cut into desired size preferably with the pizza cutter and bake it for 12-17 minutes or till the edges become brown in colour.

Enjoy it when it is hot with tomato sauce or any cheesy dip!

Hi Uma,
Came across this recipe from your blog. I w as inspired and tried it but actually I don't get as brown as yours. Is something missing in the recipe?

Did you apply butter on top?if the temperature was correct it should become brown.or just increase the temperature a bit because every oven is different.hope it helps!

Hi Uma,
Your pics are awesome. I have some basic question about oven.
1. when you say bake which mode do you choose microwave/convection/grill/all.
2. Preheat at 220C for how long.

Hi ajeetha

you choose the convection mode to bake.
Preheat it will automatically set the time you need not set any time.

Hi Uma,

You haven't specified the amount of water to be used... Helps new bakers like me to follow the recipe to the T while doing it for the first time.
