Jeera Rice/Jeera Pulao

Jeera Pulao or Jeera Rice is the most simple rice dish after steamed rice.It is a flavourful rice that is good on the stomach and goes well with any kind of dal or subzi.I made Moong Dal today and was wondering what rice I would make with this. I tried out Jeera pulao with Basmati Rice amd it was a hit ! The aroma of the Basmati rice engulfed the house and the kids couldn't wait for Lunch !

You will Need
  • One cup Basmati Rice
  • One and half tsp Cumin seeds
  • One tbs ghee
  • Few Cashewnuts
  • Salt to taste

How to

  • Wash and soak the rice for half an hour.Heat a pan fry the cashews in a tsp of ghee and keep it aside.

  •  Heat rest of the ghee and add cumin seeds and let it crackle.

  •  Drain the water from the rice and add to the cumin in the pan.Saute for two minutes so that the grains are coated with ghee.

  •  Add two cups of water and salt.

  •   Transfer it to a rice cooker and cook it.

Garnish with the fried cashews and enjoy with any north indian curry.
