Carrot Halwa

I am posting this Carrot Halwa/Gajar ka halwa recipe specially for a blogger friend who has been a great support to me. Carrot Halwa is a very popular Punjabi Dessert ,especially in winter. My friend usually makes the dish with Delhi carrots, which are red in colour. Somehow, I prefer the normal carrots for their colour.
It is a simple recipe if you have the carrots shredded. It does not require much ghee nor there is frying involved, so you can really indulge in this sweet without feeling guilty. You can add some more nuts like Almonds or Pistachios, if you prefer. For a quicker version, people do add condensed milk or khoa. Whichever method you follow, it still tastes great !!

Mirchi Ka Salan

Mirchi Ka Salan is a Hyderabadi Subzi served usually with Hyderabadi Biryani.I feel it is a combination  of north and south Indian taste. It is a little different from the usual north Indian subzis. It tastes good even with plain basmati rice.

My kids were hesitant to try this one because they think it is a subzi with chillies!!!!!later when they tried they quiet liked it.In the original recipe they use green chillies and they deep fry them!!!so if you want to you can try it too!!!!I would prefer the milder version so i have made this in the way below!!!!

Easy Potato Fry

This is the most favourite curry(vegetable dish) of mine. From childhood i used to love it especially when my mom makes shallots vathakozhambu and this curry. It really comes in handy when you run out of green vegetables.
Today i madee brinjal curry and one of my kids does not like brinjal so i had to make a quick curry for her and i decided to make this "easy potato fry".It is really simple and gets done in few minutes and it is very tasty. It is a great side for any south Indian gravy.

Pasta In white sauce with Veggies

I think the upmas and usili's have today been replaced by pasta and noodles. For this, we need to give our thanks to globalization and the exposure to International food ! Our taste buds have gotten used to Pastas and pizzas. Not to blame the kids, but the pastas and macaronis have to be in the menu at regular intervals. Pasta is made in two different ways one with white sauce and the other with red sauce.Like I have mentioned in earlier recipes, I like in include lot of veggies in all the meals. So I made this one(pasta with white sauce)with certain veggies!
